Raymond thinks his well hard image will take a knock if he says something positive in this thread.

He's not hard up for money anyway

The most important thing in life is the love of your family.

Excuse me Mr. Hobbs, what 'well hard' image?

I can assure you I'm anything but 'well hard'.

I was being serious. There are two most important things in life; Time and Freedom.

Money buys you both.

It buys you time because you don't have to spend 40 hours a week in some shit-for-brains job you'd rather not be doing, and it buys you freedom because you don't have to spend your life worrying where next month's rent is coming from.

Love? That's a load of crap. Love will either happen or it won't, being rich or poor has nothing to do with it.

I'm telling you, money is the most important thing in life. It gives you opportunities to do and experience things you never could without it.

why I say love is because I have had love and not had love and I have had money and not had money .....   money didn't' bring happiness it often brought heartache and arguments and it can be gone tomorrow but love comes in so many forms and it can offer me things money could never buy me- often money buys things that are superficial and I find I cant stomach that

I look at children poor and rich and they are happy if they are loved .. its the love that makes them happy not the money

You only say that because you've never had it.  Consider this true tale:

In the pub we used to go in, a regular there inherited £4million when he was 16 back in the sixties.  He was the last surviving family member and still is.

He's never had a job in his life, simply living of the interest.  His days were eked out going to the pub or playing golf.  He had no real friends and had never known love.  He will die a lonely man.

Money gets you nothing.  You tell me what money will get you that you can't get for free.

You only want the money to get you things.  Why do you want the things?  Because of the way you think it will make you feel.  Example, a Ferrari might give you some kind of feeling of power, or perhaps pride.  There are many other ways of getting the same feeling (and more) for free.

To me the only thing worth having is peace of mind and it has to be earned.

Actually, having 'things' isn't that important to me. Obviously I would buy a nice house and live comfortably but as I have clearly stated in earlier posts I want money to have freedom.

At the moment I have no freedom. I work a full time job and it takes up most of my time, I can't do the things I want to do (which, by the way, in themselves cost nothing) I'm either at work or getting ready for work.
I can't visit people I want to see because they live all over the country and I don't have the time (or money) to get to them.

I'm always having to worry about what direct debit is going to get knocked back this month because there are too many days before payday.

In short, I don't want to work - either part time or full time. I just do not want to work, but I don't want to be a dole scrounger either. So I have no CHOICE, I must work.

That's what I want, FREEDOM and CHOICE, and money, and ONLY money will get me those.

Love? What a load of crap! I've got this far without love so I'm sure I'll continue without it.

But you have said yourself EG, sometime you have HAD money. And I'm willing to bet that it's from the time when you had it that you are able to live a reasonably comfortable life now.

You may not have pots and pots of cash now but the proceeds of when you did have it are probably of benefit now.

Raymond what a nice little prison you have put your mind into.

"I am not well off so I shall be unhappy"

We so shall it be then.

No you didn't have to.

Perhaps disscontented would fit the bill better.
