The problem with schools here is they are governed by local boroughs. So if a particular borough is full of do-gooding lefties then all the schools in that area suffer.
There are schools in London where christmas hasn't been celebrated for years, yet when Eid or Diwali rolls around the schools celebrate. It's utter madness.
On a domestic level an old Indian pal of mine from my market days was moaning one christmas that his kids expected treats on both Indian and christian festivals.
I said to him that he should not be such a push over.
He told me to go tell his kids that there was nothing for christmas when most of their classmates were getting computers bikes and other stuff.
