Have any of you heard this one before or is a bit of an urban myth?:

The standing stones of Stonehenge was the site of an amazing disappearance in August, 1971.

At this time Stonehenge was not yet protected from the public, and on this particular night, a group of "hippies" decided to pitch tents in the centre of the circle and spend the night.
They built a campfire, lit several joints of pot and sat around smoking and singing.

Their campout was abruptly interrupted at about 2 a.m. by a severe thunder storm that quickly blew in over Salisbury Plain.
Bright bolts of lightning crashed down on the area, striking trees and even the stones themselves.

Two witnesses, a farmer and a policeman, said that the stones of the ancient monument lit up with an eerie blue light that was so intense that they had to avert their eyes.

They heard screams from the campers and the two witnesses rushed to the scene expecting to find injured - or even dead - campers. To their surprise, they found no one.
All that remained within the circle of stones were several smoldering tent pegs and the drowned remains of a campfire.
The hippies themselves were gone without a trace.

I bet the hippies ran away shitting themselves.
And by the way, is this why they've put those bloody fences all around Stonehenge? I went to see it 2 years ago and was really disapointed because I wanted to actually touch the stones.

Touching them is by special permission only - not to mention a price.

It's believed that mere human touch alone could destroy the stones. They've survived over 2000 years of weather, war and the mad Victorians but touching them could destroy them.

Someone somewhere is making money.

Does that mean we can charge for people touching our front doors?

After all, these are portals to our sacred places.

I'm joking. Just had a bit of a crappy day that's all.

I'm going to do a nice relaxing facial now and that should clam me down and that will be the end of it.

I'm fine, really. Thanks for asking though.

Yes everything is fine. I was just in a bit of a strop that's all. Let me explain now that the very worst thing to do when I'm having a tantrum is to ask me if I'm alright or make too much of a fuss ok? It just makes the tantrum worse.
So let's just forget it and move on shall we?

That is , of course, crap, because I went to Karnak temple in Egypt and touched everything, including the murals which I was not supposed to, but I bet I wasn't the only one so as far as I saw the stones didn't melt by touching them. Stonehenge must have real soft ones:)))
Yes, someone IS making money. What's bad is that it looks like crap with that fence around- you cannot even take a proper picture:(
As about the temples in Egypt they are AMAZING. I really had a feeling of belonging there, Would love to go back again and spend some more time.
