Spirits are perceived as having personalities.

The personality seems to be the same as when they were alive.  If you have seen a medium working in trance you may have witnessed it for yourself.

A thought,

If I were dreaming that I were say a soldier in the Napoleonic wars or a black athlete winning a gold at the Olympics (I am white), and died in my sleep during the dream.

Who would my spirit be?

A soldier of David Hobbs?

Sounds daft but while you are dreaming it is just as real as waking reality.

i have always dreamed of dying in my sleep .. no idea if it is related to past life stuff usually my deaths are of me here and now...   I think dying is related to things finishing (usually or at least often)...

dreams are more than just symbols that you may read about from books

its most beneficial to look at what they mean to you. past life things may be there but I feel only because of something that you are going through now.. so regardless of what you look like in your dream or who you think you are you have to ask yourself what it means for you at this time

All very true, but who would I be if I died in my sleep?

My mind would be telling me I was someone else.

Would I even remember the old waking me.

Also, why do we dream that on occasion we are someone else.

I am not sure about this past life stuff because I have never had evidence of past lives even when I did lot's of "regressions" and the people lived their past lives out right in front of me.

I suppose another angle to this question is, What would happen if I died in my sleep and I was not dreaming?

You'd be Dead? (wild stab in the dark? no pun intended)

I've dreamed of dying in my sleep, i see it as a peaceful escape to a world that is currently falling around my ears, and i have no control over it, but for peace, i prepare for war, so it's all good Big Grin

Or maybe it is that you are repressing the part of you that's ying? Or that it needs to die in order for the other to progress...

I've had a few dreams where I'm dying but the one that scared me was when I was on a countdown from 30 secods to 0... 0 being when I would die... I only got to 3.. In that dream I felt I had so much left to do, When I got to 3 seconds I woke up!

As to what you're asking David, I know what you mean but I can't answer that, sorry?
