I'm posting this on here as it is a 'stone' and has a fascinating story,-
well I think so!

In July, some of you might know,I had to have my beloved cat Thomouse  put to sleep. Thomouse used to have his own tent in the bottom of my garden, and I knew years back that I would bury him in that spot.
On the 18th July,I started to dig the hole to bury him.I dug down about tw0 feet, and found a few bits of eathernware pots. Then something sparkled, and I dug out this Isle of Wight shaped stone. I took it indoors and washed it,then asked around if anyone knew what it was. I was advised to go to my local Dinosaur museum. There I met a renowned geologist, who literally jumped upand down with excitement at seeing my stone.
Apparently, the stone [he said] should never have been found here,as it was from the Grampians. He presumed some traveller hundreds of years ago, brought the stone to the island and dropped it on the land which is now my garden.
This stone,he identified as ''Schist'', a high grade metamorphic rock, encrusted with garnets! and was about a billion years old,and pre-Cambrian.
He had never seen anything like it on the Island.

Now for the silly part!!! To me,this was a present from my cat,and I will refer to it as Thom's stone. It has pride of place on my window sill, where the mica layers catch the sunlight.  The pic. doesn't do it justice!

Well I think it is a gift from Thomouse too.

In some of the pictures you can make out the profile of a cat.
