I'm a great believer in balance. For anything to exist it has to have an opposite. I wonder what the shadow people's opposite are - 'light people'???
Maybe if you can control shadow people SP you might be able to control light people as well. Maybe you should keep a eye open for them and work with them to do your positive work.
Just an idea.
The thing you have to control and balance is yourself.
Once that is is harmony so is everything around you.
You can buy into shadow and believe you are very naughty and powerful.
You can buy into light and believe you are god.
Both are just different ends of the spectrum of your inner self.
I don't know about any light people...angels perhaps, but I'm not sure if there are anything opposite of shadows.
Mr. Hobbs, I don't believe I've ever thought of it that way, "buy into shadow or light"...the spectrum...That definitely makes me feel better about what I do.
As for why they do my bidding...if I had you in a cage or chained to something that you couldn't get away from...or just offered you something you really wanted, you'd do whatever I wanted too.
Shadows are not very complex creatures. They have a simple drive; they want energy and will go after anything enticing enough. Therefore, it's essential to keep a constant guard when dealing with them. The only way to truly control them, however, is to have a more powerful will than they do...if they perceive you as 'easy energy' then you are at risk. When I select a target for them, I attempt to bring down the target's shield, cuz ya never know who dabbles in magic or has guides or even other entities for that matter, who will protect them.
Lately, I've used them to a karmatic end, assuming the role of karma and distributing my own punishment. The methods on how to do such things were discovered in my family's chest...which I broke into due to 'advice' I'd recieved...I was told what would be in there, but not by a person; a Book of Shadows that was more than 100 years old, but that's another long story of it's own.
What do I mean by buying in.
Well It seems that everyone has a belief system that has been built up over a lifetime and I have noticed that this belief system seems to be a sort of self fulfilling prophecy.
IE, Christians who suffer stigmata. Catholics who have visions of the virgin.
I may be wrong here of course as this is only from my own limited experience.
Do you think that Shadow People have an existence outside and independent of yourself, or are they a part of your own concious creation.
Hmm...I never believed them to actually exist, even when I first began working with them, sure I'd heard of them before, but I did not believe in their existence. I'd heard they were the spirits of the deceased who were so attached to life that they couldn't fully move on and/or they simply had such an extreme amount of negativity at the time of their death. It wasn't until after I actually began seeing results with them that I believed what was really going on...even then though, it was difficult for me to fathom, to be perfectly honest, even now I still sometimes feel crazy because I constantly doubt my experiences...but when people I use them on to whatever end experience what I want them to...or more recently someone who doesn't even believe in these kinds of things figures out what is happening to them and why, I know something is really happening. _________________ All things written by me are copyright by me.

When I first started out learning/using them, I was in a coven...people who for some reason had offered me an invitation, BEFORE I ever even considered such a thing, but after I'd found that BoS. The high priestess of the coven decided she'd utilize my ability of her own personal use. The people they were used on...well, I THINK I stated somewhere in here that people who were married developed severe marital problems resulted in divorce and general unhappiness...there were a few...deaths...suicides. However, she painted an ugly picture about them and actually made me believe they were deserving of such fates. So, I went through the rituals with them and once I started seeing things happening that were being focused on, I quickly became a believer. After I realized she was only using them because she just disliked the 'targets' I destroyed and/or took most of the tools used in the rituals and decided to teach her a lesson via the same way she was 'teaching others'. I think I may have lost control of them at some point as I didn't expect it to go as far as it did. The poor woman went insane...and is still in a looney bin to this day. It sounds a bit like this High Priestess was a bit of a nut-case to begin with (as so many of them are). Maybe the shadow people just helped her over the edge.
You just don't know how hard I giggled at what you just said...but at her at the same time. She was rather...eccentric? Not sure if that's the word I want to use, but I think they definately helped her over the edge...and down to the rocky bottom.
It IS a useful tool, but a dangerous one. I can still lose control of them at any given moment...so even my power or technique is not perfect...there is always the risk of a mistake or even a backfire, where they would turn on me. Currently, I've offered them a...mutual agreement of sorts. Teach this person a lesson and get him off my back and they have access to his energy/negativity...whichever it is they want. I just make certain any shields they have are disposed of. I'm usually rather reserved when it comes to using them. I would never use them for anything trivial...no one deserves the fate they CAN bring over something small. It would seem that there are many types of shadow people as you can tell from the various descriptions in this thread.
I have come across three.
The first was when I was active in the elemental majic field and I awoke one night to see a robed figure completely black standing at the foot of my bed. The air was absolutely alive with a buzzing static electricity sound and the atmosphere was tangible. I watched it for a while and it slowly faded and vanished.
Again about a year later and in a different home I awoke to see a similar figure standing next to my bed. I whipped back the sheets thinking that it was a burgler and kicked it under the jaw but of course my foot just went straight through it. Again there was the same charged energy in the room as with the previous visitor.
The last was in Canewdon Church yard late one night but this time what ever it was appeared as a kind of column of blackness and was standing no more than ten feet in front of me and I was aware that it was observing me.
It suddenly shot of to my right at speed and vanished.
This time there was no buzzing or any sound whatsoever so it would seem that this shadow may have been different in origin to the other two.
