I wonder from a spiritual point of view if the recent disclosures and all of the reverberations about MPs fiddling the books is a sign of greater change.

I like to think that just perhaps planet Earth is in the throes of change.  Change for the better.

Perhaps, now that the ball is rolling it will gather momentum and lead to a more genuinely democratic society.

Perhaps I am a little too optimistic but I do live in hope.

Well the momentum seems to be building.

I have heard people on the radio speaking of reform and fairness.

Such a very British revolution don't you think.

We get taken into a war that tens of thousands are killed and mutilated in on a complete bunch of lies and say naughty old government but never mind eh.

However catch someone fiddling their expenses and wham all hell breaks loose.

Yes a very British revolution indeed.

Britons are not revolutionaries David, we tend to take everything in our stride until someone else points out that someone has done something. In other words your average brit is apathetic, and will only react when HIS back is against the wall !
As you and the great BD said the times they are a changing, but for the good ?
We'll see !

Apathy does rule in the good old UK.

That is perhaps the reason that we are in the difficulties that we are now.

Perhaps, just perhaps recent events will wake up our bored old population into realising that we need something better to pass on to our children.

I would suspect thought that this would come somewhere below buying a flat screen TV and having a Chinese takeaway on the list of priorities.

I'm not sure it is all apathy I think it is politeness that can make one just accept things because is it rude to disagree with "superiors"  its changing though and rapidly

Funny thing is that i get a good vibe from all this skulduggery.

it takes huge events to bring about real and lasting change and this is a pretty big event.

cabinet ministers falling like nine pins and a ruderless leadership.

We will either flounder on the rocks or rise from all of this stronger and wiser.

The latter, definately.

Read your history.

We've had times like this before and rose out of them just in time for tea.

Can't say the same about lesser lands unfortunatley.

Yes I agree with you Raymond (well he's not been well)

I think that a good breakdown of any system means that we build another with the benefit of hind sight.

We shall see.

afteral we may just realise that politician are people just like us and this whole shining the light on them is a great opportunity to have a darn good look at our selves and see how self righteous we can all really afford to be in the light of the public stoning arena..   now lets see how shall be casting the first stone ......... ?

Yup,  I for one have fiddled  a lot more than my expenses in the past.

We are all guilty of wrong doing but I guess when you are telling other people what to do it helps if you lead by example.

When I worked in the markets demonstrating the crowd expected me to be a bit of a rogue and I often think that to them it was all part of the fun.

Just imagine their surprise when they took whatever I was selling home and realised that it actually worked.

Well sometimes anyway.

ok totally true David.. I meant we the public want  to crucify someone for a choice they make in their personal life...   like having an affair or something like that

Are we angry with them or angry at them for exposing our own human weaknesses?

They don't make things better or worse we do.

We allow others to tell us what is law and how we should live and why be it church government or the school bully.

Why?

We do it from sloth, it's easier that way and requires no effort.

Well do you know what.

I have a real sense that things are going to change big time.
