I thought that I would put some of the threads on and see what you make of them.

1st Thread: I am living a lie, or my life is not as I want it to be, and I need to change it.

Fair comment....and I am. I am the only person who can do this. I take responsibility for myself, my life and how I live it (most of the time).
I do not always know how I want it to be, but I know how I don't want it to me, and change those aspects.

Actually, I do not need to change it, but I choose to. Why is there a need there?
(A lot of "I" in this)

I know, disregarded the first bit as when I read it, it generates conflicting emotions. It is too ambiguous a statement and requires discussion before consideration.
In other words, it needs pinning down.

Switching of the thoughts that intrude into the meditation is something that comes with a lot of practice.

Just now and then it happens and it is worth every thought that your rational mind ever had put together.

It is called insight.

I have a very close friend who is a genetic scientist. He studied at Oxford and Cambridge and is now an assistant professor at a New York university.

He can meditate at the drop of a hat and has gained much understanding.

I would say that his brain is fairly lively Waff.

Ok. Serious question. I think in words and feelings.
How do I meditate?

Again there are different forms of meditation.

I suppose the choice is between active and passive (my words) meditation

With this particular thread the meditation would be passive. Just state the contention and stop thinking.

Observe and be patient.

It's not compulsory i am just trying to expand a little upon these threads.

They have many depths to them and sometimes you can return from your meditation laughing your socks off.

No mention of thought here.

Then I have been doing It wrong.

In Spiritualist circle I used to sit and just see what happened.

You are just looking at it from a more eastern aspect.

Now to answer this one.

You do not meditate on thinking.

You simply watch your thoughts whilst in a relaxed state.

Don't hold them or dissect them or try to interpret them. Just watch them and let them go.

Oh, David.

I need some help here
To meditate on the thread, are we saying that is a starting point from which I allow my thoughts to drift?
How does that differ from thinking?

I feel I probably ought to just try it and see, but I kind of need a nudge in the right direction,

(I know, am hard work, but I don't know what to do)

Have a look at my last post and forget the threads for now.

You only have to observe your thoughts.

That can be done while you are not meditating.

It is as easy as that.

Thought that would make it easier for you to start.

Now that you have read the post see how your thoughts effect your feelings.

That again involves thinking.

Observe those thoughts.
