So you can all Astral Travel then.

I have only ever met one person who Astraled and he is sadly dead now.

I do not think that as many people can do this as they claim.

Without wishing to be contentious would you all be willing to prove it to me if I set something up?

This is not a challenge by the way just a put your money where your mouth is experiment.

So who's first on the Astral?

What are you talking about Mr. Hobbs? I think the poor old thing is a little confused, poor old chap.

Astral travelling Mr. Hobbs is when you can freely travel around the astral planes and meet with various astral beings.

Having you set up an object somewhere and asking people to guess what it is and where it is (apart from being a pointless parlour game) is Out of Body Travel.

I'm sure it can be done but like you I find that people who say they can travel anywhere in the physical world probably don't make it much beyond their own house.

As always, I await to be proven wrong.

I can astral travel and OBE, like I said before, I can and do 'visit' my mother quite often.  When my grandmother was alive I visited her as well and attempted healing her...it must've done something and I know I doubted myself quite often, but when dr's couldn't explain that the entire back wall of her heart was completely dead and they couldn't explain how or why she had been able to stay alive for as many years as she did...I knew I had to have been doing something.

No I don't do anything like that.

It's bad enough I have to visit my relatives when I'm awake, never mind when I'm asleep.

Haha...well I seem to be pretty avid at healing..."we play with the toys the gods give us" I suppose...I have become rather detached from them, but there are a few of them I care about.  Even though we never used to get along...perhaps I'm too compassionate an adversary?

They're good for when I haven't got any money but beyond that I can't find much use for them.

Oh I see.

I would like to hear about these Astral beings.

Astral beings, spirits who reside on the astral planes. Spirits who are awaiting re-birth to the physical world.

Really!

Would like to hear about these beings and your experiences of interacting with them.

Is it in your sleep or when meditating or is it during waking hours.

What do they say or do or not do as the case may be?

Normally during meditations, however, it can happen uncontrollably as you sleep.  When you embark on an astral travel it isn't really guaranteed that you'll always run into any astral beings, I suppose...

So am I right in thinking that Astral travel then is a change of conscious perception withing the brain and that in fact the word travel is very misleading.

After all when I dream I am in an altered state and sometimes far from home, but I have not TRAVELLED anywhere at all.

I have simply dreamt.

So just where did this concept of travelling begin.

Or are you just having a slightly different dream and turning it into something that it patently is not.

I guess the whole ides springs from people believing their are various astral planes.. and that they are sometimes able to interact with them...

nothing can be proven it is afteral a belief

some where on here I told you of one experience I have had...  it may just have been remote viewing though I will never know as like with most things it is unproven and generally unprovable

Astral travelling is very different to dreaming. When you sleep your consious mind steps down and your sub-consious mind takes the driving seat.
When you astral travel the sub-consious steps forward but the consious mind doesn't 'step-down' as it does when you're aslepp.

In astral travel you are aware of everything going on around you all the time, unlike in dreams where you just 'go with the flow' of whatever the dream is about.

Personalli I cannot astral travel during sleep. When I go to bed to sleep that's exactly what I want to do - sleep. Rest.

I have to make a consious decision to astral travel and do so through meditation.
I don't find it as easy nowadays as I used to when I was younger and most of the time I just fall asleep. If I've had a particularly stressful day or feeling unwell then I find astral travel impossible.

I'm very suspicious of people who claim they astral travel 'at will'. And I'm sure imagination plays a huge part in many of those cases, but when you astral travel properly you know it.
It's very different to a dream and very different to waking consiousness.

It's definately a skill worth learning. The insights and knowledge you gain from it are priceless.

Not really something I can answer as I've never done remote viewing myself but from what others have told me about it remote viewing is more like seeing images or people who are at some distance away from you.

It isn't like astral travelling because (as far as I'm aware) you don't need to go to the astral planes in order to remote view. It's a bit like the medium who receives messages from spirit, they just "know" what the message is. The same seems to apply to the remote viewer, they just seem to "know" what's going on in a place without physically being there.

I actually dislike the term 'astral travel'. As Mr.Hobbs has demonstrated, it implies there's an element of 'travel' involved - of 'going somewhere else'.
'Out of body' is another term I dislike for the same reasons.

You don't 'go' anywhere. You don't 'leave' your body. In all of these things you're just 're-tuning' your mind to receive a different wavelength of energy, just like you might re-tune a radio.

The astral planes - or 'spirit world' or whatever you choose to call it, as around us all  the time. It's just that during waking hours our minds aren't receiving the wavelengths because we have to concentrate on whatever we are doing in our waking lives.
It wouldn't be very safe for us to walk around in an altered state all the time.

That is remote viewing.

You're seeing an actual event taking place right now. In 'realtime' as they call it nowadays.

A bit 'trippy' actually. Do you ever get that thing (don't know what it's called) where for a brief moment you feel like you're outside your own head? Well it's a lot like that.
Dreamlike but not dreaming.
