I feel confident when I say the vast majority of the British people will never want it.
Bloody hell, they can't even convince us to change our currency or adopt the metric system so I'm pretty sure they won't manage to change our whole political system and way of life any time soon.
So I say to you the same thing I say to anyone who is unhappy with the way Britain is run, - piss off and go live somewhere that you find less offensive.

I find a lot of people do that - especially young people.
Instead of lookin at themselves and asking why their life is so shit they externalise it because it's much easier to blame 'the country' or 'the government' or 'society', when the reality is they are too bone idle or don't have enough gumption or are just plain drud-fucked to get off their lazy arses and improve their lives.
Moving to another country just means taking all that crap with you in most cases.
