I have no doubt that every day people see unidentified flying objects.

I have no doubt there are forms of life on other planets.

It is entirely plausable that alien life could be way more advanced than us, or they could still be a pile of mucous in a stinking swamp.

To believe that an advanced race, capable of travelling the huge distances of space, would choose to visit our little planet is just about plausable aswell as I'm guessing any life form as vain as us would want to gloat at being more clever.

To think that these advanced people would choose to visit us by independantly flying here in little saucers/cigars/whatever with little flashing lights etc and fly around in our atmosphere is just ridiculous.

My main objection to aliens/ufos is that any persons clever enough to get here from such a distance that we haven't detected them, AND they got here undetected... Why oh why oh why would they then choose to hover over Swindon for 15seconds then disappear?????

Plus the "the government knows but is keeping it a secret" line is just absurd. There are many many people, myself included who have telescopes and regularly look into the sky. Someone would have seen something indesputable. Lots of people would see anything that was really out there. Someone inthe government/military WOULD have come forward with some kind of info.

I just find it all a little too far fetched.

:) so there we go. That's my view.

Who agrees? or... prove me wrong

I don't agree Sian, really, as having seen a couple of odd things in the sky, including a large circular object taking off, I do not think that the idea of a cover up is THAT far fetched !

But why cover it up? Come on, look at how governments react to potential threats on THIS planet! If there was an alien race visiting do you think the friendly nuclear states would be travelling around shaking hands with each other? I think they'd be sitting on that red button pissing in their pants and calling for mummy.

New military technology I believe in, I think alot of UFO sightings are down to military activity which is (justifiably?) covered up on a daily basis.

To think an alien spaceship landed and you saw it taking off again? I don't disbelieve you for a second but how do you know what is was?

There is a big spider in my room so that is the end of me for a few hours :)

I'm actually standing up and applauding Sian at this moment.

Very well said!!!

I don't dismiss the possibility of aliens/UFO's etc. As with all things "unknown" (and that includes conspiracy theories) I await the day when I see the evidence with my own eyes that hasn't come form some dodgy, geeky website.

I remember a while ago I saw a couple of clips on YouTube. One was of an alien hiding behind a lampost and scaring kiddies and the other was of an alien peering through somebody's living room window.

I mean, come on!

They've travelled (presumerably) millions of light years just to hang about in dimly lit alleyways and peek through someone's net curtains! Get a f*cking grip!

This same argument applies to so-called "orbs".
If there really is a whole 'life-after-death' thing going on why would they just come back as a speck of dust and do a bit of floating around in front of someone's camcorder?
Surely they would come back and try and help us not make such a pig's testicle of our lives.

I live in hope.

I'm glad it's not just me. I do believe in ghosts and have many theories concerning the various types etc which is a whole other subject.

I am not dismissing the idea of UFO's entirely I just want something concrete.

The vast majority of videos for example are made up of fuzzy, wobbly camera work showing a shape/light floating rould the sky. There is rarely anything other that said shape and sky in the frame. No means for perspective.

Unless there is an immovable object such as a building which can provide scale how can you prove size, movement or distance? Without clear camera work how can you prove it's not a cardboard cutout on a string?

Bring me some proof and I will consider it.

I always thought that part of investigating the paranormal (including UFO's) is to discount every rational explanation, no matter how unlikely, before even beginning to consider other possiblities

That's my motto too.

Unfortunately there are two kinds of people who generally gravitate towards paranormal investigation.
The absolute believers and the absolute sceptics.
I don't have much tolerance for either I'm afraid.

I believe in ghosts/spirits/afterlife because I have had enough proof to satisfy me.

Aliens/UFO's and the like are a different story. I've had no first hand proof and no reason to believe they exist.

I don't deny it, I just want proof.

It would seem, going by some of the attitudes of some of the odd-bods I've met over the years, that is too much to ask.

I think people need something to believe in. May that be ghosts, aliens, a god or reptiles running the world.

Everybody has some unshakable belief.

My aim is to understand these beliefs. I can understand the ghosts because I believe it. I can understand the gods because although I'm not that religious it is a part of my life, I'm marrying a vicar's grandson, I have plenty of opportunity to debate religion at length with his grandad.

Aliens bother me. The scientist in me screams "it's possible". The realist in me screams "not likely".

I respect other people's beliefs (generally) but I'm afraid sometimes I just have to scream "get real" to some of these people.

The whole thing about the Queen being a reptile and we're all just cattle to reptilian aliens who really run the world, I'm sorry - but no.

I try to be open-minded and respectful of others' opinions but when it comes to crap like that I just can't help but want to smack them up a little bit.

hehe Our friend (my pertners best man) knows Mr Ike personally. His dad is his manager or something.

He is totally taken in and spent HOURS trying to convert me. I dutifully watched all of his videos, lectures, interviews etc read the pamphlets, then picked them to shreds until our friend gave up and went home. (it took 2 weeks but there are lots of things to watch and read)

Yeah I know. Hobbs and others on here are always trying to push mad Icke's videos and a part of me wants to because at least then I would know what he's saying and could come back at them with a reasonable and intelligent argument.

But the bigger part of me just says "Oh f*ck off!"

I just can't be bothered. The whole thing is just so ridiculous to me that I don't want to waste a single precious moment of my life giving these whack jobs an audience.

It's the same as the whole Jehovah's Witness mob. Part of me wants to be able to debate with them but another part of me just says "why bother?"

It's the latter part that usually wins.

Push yourself to watch the videos. They are truly interesting. i don't disbelieve eveything he says at all. He makes alot of sense in fact. The reptiles bit is a step too far for me though.

I befriended a jehovahs witness years ago. I allowed her to try and convert me out of curiosity. She might have succeeded if I hadn't found a slip she'd left in the watchtower magazine. They get points or something for getting people to bible study and things. I found that very disagreeable and dishonest. Too culty for me!

UFO's for me fall into the category of "need something to prove it" rather than "fruit loop".

I do believe in UFOs.

Are they from outer space?  Who knows.

I try to think beyond our own civilisation and ask myself this.

How many types of life form are there.  Are there life forms for instance that can live in space just as we live in air or a fish lives in water.

I don't know, but I don't consider it an impossibility.

The last time I saw a UFO i just knew that it was there because I was.

That is an odd thing to say but I actually felt some form of contact with it.

Not conversation but rather a knowing that as I observed it, it observed me.

Was it from space.  I think not but I really do not know and I shall not tie myself to the all to human nuts and bolts space craft concept when in this universe all things are possible.

I'm not a believer ... I have seen a few things but I have no idea what I was... so I haven't really formed an opinion...

I don't really buy into conspiracy theories either  that is way too dis empowering for me and I don't believe in worrying about things unnecessarily ... though I think I sit on the fence and everyone knows fence sitters are the hardest to convince  Big Grin

I don't know. I am not sure about UFO's as such.
If we saw something that was outside of our experience, we would rationalise it into something we can grasp. But what is ACTUALLY is, may well be something different.

I couldn't care less about conspiracy theories, they seem to tend towards the paranoia.

Give me facts, not theories, and I will happily listen

But having said that a lot of the conspiracy theorists I know will hold up some website and present it as 'fact' just like a Christian will hold up the Bible.
They just don't seem to get it that websites (and indeed The Bible) just aren't fact enough.

I have this friend, and she's a nice enough lass, she smokes weed like the rest of us drink water and she's forever emailing me clips from youtube about some conspiracy or other and she's really into it and totally believes all of it and I can't help thinking that if laid off the wacky-baccy a bit and got a job she actually liked doing she wouldn't be so worried about these things.

I'm not saying all conspiracy theorists are like that but it seems a lot are.

I think of lot of them have unrealistic goals they put upon our governments and people who run things.
They expect them to be sqeaky clean and beyond human failings.

Anybody who has ever run a business will know that it's virtually impossible to be 100% kosher all the time. You have to cut corners and be a little underhanded just to keep the business afloat.
So imagine what it must be like running a country.
Of course government has it's little secrets, of course they have to do things that most of us wouldn't sit very comfortably with.
They have to, it's part of the job.

Of course they do little things Raymond.

Little things like taking the vast majority of this country into the common market against it's will.

Just little dictatorisl things like that.

That's right. They make mistakes and their first thought is the financial comfort and security of themselves and their families.

Tsk tsk! Anybody would think they were human or something.

Thinking of their families comfort.

No.

Just thinking of themselves that's all.

Their are tens of billions of species on this planet, none of which have self imposed religions, war, segregation, hatred for different colours, famine, torture, politics etc.
If I was visiting this world with an IQ of 600 I would prefer to communicate with a cuttlefish.
Only humans are ignorant enough to presume that an advanced race would want to talk to a human.

Don't believe what you see. Your sight is controlled by your brain which is easily manipulated by magnetic fields on the cerebral cortex'.
Hence the large ammount of apparitions these days.

The govts have been experimenting on these controls since the 50s.
