why not modernise

I used to look forward every Sunday to visiting my local Spiritualist Church.
Not so nowadays. Inaccurate mediums droning on and on getting the odd hit now and then.

Where are the old fashioned mediums who, when I think back were so superior to what I see these days.

Oh with the exception of our Stan of course.

Like anything in this world, more exposure always leads to dilution

oh bummer so I missed the boat I was born too late... lol

I tell you you sound like my parents when a new car came out or new way of building houses... or new music... hehehe

I dont' know what it was like before but if I dont' hit I feel flat as a tack and that doesn't happen very often at all.. I have only ever seen one other medium work and thought she was ok.. not great but ok

so what is the problem too may doing it aren't they just learning??? do we expect too much do they think they are better than they are?? What is the problem

All of the above.

Should we not be encouraging those who are not as good as we had hoped, to improve?

Is the problem with our own expectations, and should we not celebrate the odd "hit" so that they are more aware of their strengths and can develop those?

(In a very reasonable mood)

There are those who hang on a mediums every word. Would you like a lawyer to represent you who had picked up his schooling in the local pub.

Yes of course we expect too much.

I think a lot of the problem lies not with the church medium but with the constrictions put on them by spiritualist dogma. ie, you are here to give proof of survival only.

Why?

Answer. To prove that we are right.

Does that remind you of any other religions?
evergreen

yes of course it does.... I have never really thought of it as proof of survival.... hmmm but I have heard that term before

I have sat in circle David I enjoyed it immensely but hate hanging on every word the medium says doesn't sit comfortably with me.. no body should hang on anybodies words... not without input from their own mind.

There are those that go to circle and open up very fast while others go for years and move little by little it is like life we are just all so very different

I had a young woman come to the shop I read out of today and I showed her how to use a pendulum because she asked.. I told her that is would be best if she did other learning not just using the pendulum but it worries me that people may be opening themselves up to things they no nothing about or are not ready for... although if she came looking then maybe the time is right for her I so wanted to tell her things but it is not my place she will return she she wants some answers..... I think that when you sit in circle or go to spiritualist Churches you are then doing what others think is okay for you

i feel mediumship differs for everyone ,it does make me think  why ,for example do i not  get a name of the spirit ,but a very good description etc or indeed the other way round,as i learn to interpret  the symbols, etc i will hopefully  get  stronger validation.i do agree david i dont really appreciate  a wishy washy reading but everyone has to learn ......
i did  areading on saturday for a lady and she was happy with what i gave her,but i do wonder  sometimes....why would spirit not give there name all the time,i wonder ,as you say david the old mediums you felt gave more accurate messages, maybee its because there are many new ones out there now and  the better ones are more difficult to find?

You could have a point there Mark but I also feel that it is due to the lack of good teaching.
mark

maybee we both have a valid  point david

On the odd occasion that I have worked with people recently I have been looking to bring out their own potential to deal with the problem and it works far better than giving the impression that I and only I can deal with this problem because I am all powerful and I can sort this out.  That is just an ego trip.

Now that I think about it I have always used the self help method.

It made me unpopular with some people who think that you exist just for their needs and then they find out that I actually expect them to do something for themselves.

I never was tolerant of the "why doesn't somebody do something about this" mentality.

David you have hit the nail on the head.. that is the core or my wondering if I want to doing passed over medium work anymore

of late I have had a influx of people wanting me to tell them guides name... I refuse to do that as that is their job to find out and if I do it I take away their learning - it is a power thing to tell someone something like that but I know one other psychic that is telling people about guides names and I think that might be where it is coming from ...  but still I dont 'have to join the ranks

Mark I dont' often do names but it seems when it really counts I get a name adn no one is more surprised than me   - like a lady that has been searching for her birth father - it took me two readings to get a name from him and even when I got it I told her not to place all of her hope in that name as it would be silly to do that .. anyway she met up with me the other day to let me know she has tracked him down (he has passed) and it has been confirmed via blood tests...  she feels like a part of her life has been healed..   That to me felt like worthwhile mediumship  that is such an interesting case I've decided to keep the details myself as a teaching tool if ever I teach

Mark I bet that woman you read for didnt' care about the name

that may be very true but i like to be critical at times with myself
this actually is wrong in a way to do so i believe as it is of course down to spirit  to give and for me to be tuned in appropiatlly
evergreen

ooooo another perfectionist line up behind me mark  .. so we can judge ourselves even more harshly...

and perhaps ge no where

when it is said and written like that makes me realise all over again I really have to stop being so critical of myself
