It's either a blatant wish/roses round the door dream i.e. you think about this bloke from time to time and somewhere in your psyche there is some residual feeling or connection.
Or, the ex is symbolic of an old issue or situation.
It is not around at present but this issue/situation is something that you think/fear might come back into your life.
Going out for dinner is often something different to the norm of eating at home so perhaps you will need to deal with this out of your usual comfort zone.

there is more than likely something occurring in your life today that was relevant when he was in your life too.. the dream is not about you wanting him ..perhaps you suffered anxiety when with him and are going through this now.. perhaps you were happy when with him and long for that now.. that kind of thing
