Training to be a medium

I have often had people ask me to teach them how to be a medium.

Bearing in mind that I am not the best medium around I have to look at each person individualy.

What do you think.

Can you train people to be mediums or not?
Raymond

You can train anyone to do anything but I do think they need to have a certain flair for it to begin with.
Kas

I told you once before.
I have been approached by someone claiming to be a trained medium that wants to join my team. When i asked what training they had done they had done a weekend course with Derek Acorah.
See, so you can be trained.

Yes I have come across the weekend mediums.

They are probaly running a small psycic centre now and charging fifty quid a reading.

personaly having worked with many would be mediums over the years I would say that they do need talent and a desire to learn.
Given that then there is no problem.

It is funny how many people think they can be taught but have no natural talent whatsoever

I have been to one of them weekend workshops for mediums. I was totally unaware that this is what it was when I went, not my thing at all.

Most of the people there had some sort of 'psychic' ability (or thought they did). The group was split in half so I can only say what I experienced in the group I was in. We were taught to use different senses... the three clairs... I found this quite difficult because we could only use one at the time...

We were taught the difference between psychic and mediumship readings.

We were taught about the meaning of symbols we may get.

But the most important thing was the medium doing the teaching taught us about tact and decorum.

Was a strange, interesting & exhausting weekend... it was also expensive.

Am I now a Qualified medium then??? Don't make me laugh... of course I'm not...

I Have done a few psychic and mediumship workshops i have also done and passed 2 home learning courses that have given me certificates saying i am a qualified psychic and medium. One off these home courses that i passed all i had to do was look up answers in books so how can they say I'm a qualified medium. I must say the second course you don't use books and to start of is easy then it gets really difficult and they give you scores according to your feed back and they also advice when the course is complete to take a counselling course. But after all of these courses i still do not class myself as a qualified psychic or medium as i am still learning and the more i learn the more i get pulled into different directions. I only started these workshops and courses because since a child i have been seeing and hearing things and was really scared and i wanted to get over this fear. Since getting over my fear like i say i am always learning something new and i wouldn't say i was qualified in anything to do with the paranormal or spiritual. I think everyone has the ability to be a medium if thats what they want but i don't believe that any one can be classed as a qualified medium.
Kas

Good post Dawn.
I'm all for people learning and expanding their knowledge on the subject.
But i have to say there is no such thing as a qualified medium.
The best one's seem to be the one's that have the most experience and are geniune.

Yes, I do think you can teach someone to be a Medium.

I also think that it must be individual to that person.
I also think that person must understand what it is that they want.

Few people would come up with exactly the same definition and understanding of what a Medium actually is and does, and so without that, how can you class yourself as having those skills.

I have attended some courses along those lines, and found myself questioning (what a surprise!!). I still do not have a feeling for what the paranormal is to me, what spirit is, and from there, what is happenning. From there, I do not knwo what a Medium is, although I have developed a changing view of what it is not (or shouldn't be).

And if you want to teach, do it.
And count me in.
Raymond

A Medium is only ever as good as thier last reading.

lol lol lol

Think you've got to born be with it

I don't think that you can train to be a medium.  You either are or you are not.  A medium has to be able to be used, and mny people are not.

I do believe that you can train anyone to become more sensitive and psychic though.

There is a big difference between a psychic, and a medium.

It is a bit like everything.  You can improve what you were born with, but you cannot add something that is just not there.

I would love to have a photographic memory but I don't, and no amount of training will give me one.

i lost that ability when i was pregnant...has never returned...

.....soo.....if you can lose an ability due to an overwhelming change in your body chemistry.... why not be able to gain one??  i believe we all have the ability (sometimes laying dormant within us) it just takes a trigger factor to start (or stop) it.  There is many a documented case of people displaying mediumship, psychokenisis, psychic abilities etc.  before being diagnosed with a brain tumour...... before all the people on here go running off for a brain scan.... i'm just pointing out the fact that this causes a change in body chemistry.....another example would be when the body is under extreme stress...our bodies are amazing things...and although different shapes and sizes.. all have the same abilities!   xx
Sia

Do you think that there might be a greater chance of getting the sight after having a near death experience?
laura

yes i do....how more exteme "body under stress" can you get! and certainly knowing people who have been sceptics to completely change their thinking following a near death experience.... and begin to question everything and start their spiritual journey.... there has got to be something in it!!
david hobbs

Yes thinking about it I have heard of cases where an accident or some traumatic incident has bought out or changed something.  I still think that this is different to being trained.

Unless the training involves jumping from an airoplane without a parachute or similar.

I think I have just stumbled on a way to make a few quid.
Anyone here want to become a medium.

Meet me a Nortweald airstrip this afternoon.

Can you train people to be mediums *******************************************
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
You can train people to read body language, how to tell lies and fool people, how to use repetoir and phsycholgy to make it seem as if they have certain gifts (mindreading etc) but if you have to teach people to be mediums then they do not have the gift to start with. The very fact that someone comes to you to be trained says a lot about their own gullibilty and their very slippy grasp on reality and their 'want' to see the other side...something that is entirely impossible in my humble my opinion.
mark

ther is another point here and it is that some people in life arent very good at putting things together and understanding  what some people may say to them 4 xample, and if they are a medium they can get help from  a medium who can put the symbols 4xample that some mediums get, into place ,helping one to realise what the messages conveyed to a medium can meen ,so i believe some mediums will greatly improve from being helped in this way,and taught the ways to open and close chakras etc ,i no this isnt teaching one how  to be a medium ,its assisting them

yes i agree ...it is different to being "trained"...... i just believe that we are all born with the potential... i guess it's whether it lays dormant or not....i think mark has a good point that some people just need guidance to realise and interpret.
yes there are people out there who declare themselves to be "trained mediums?" .... i believe these people to be arrogant and deluded.... go to your local spiritualist church.. unfortunatley there is plenty of them that get up on the rostum and you can see them a mile off when they do!
Sia

lol, was asking because my Mum, who did have the sight to a certain degree, died on the operating table, and after her abilities were more powerfull
