Thrown OutThis ones a bit of a bummer for me as I have just been thrown out of the coven I have been with for twenty years. Not least because I had just invested in a new robe that cost plenty. Some witches are just so tetchy.
What do you think of witchcraft and have you any personal experience of the subject?
By the way I am available for Sabbats. Well lets face it I don't want to waste the money I invested in my robe.
Oh and. I may joke it up here but I am serious about Coven work. I have met some wonderful people over the years and of course some total ----heads.

Now, probably showing my insensitive side, so apologies.
Could you explain what witchcraft actually is, how it works, the beliefs behind it..... I don't want to just pick up a book. There are many, and most look like a "how to do it" book, but it is the philosophy that I am more interested in than the practice (at least at this stage), and I'd rather ask someone who knows.
Then again, I know that some practices are best not tied down in writing as that does to allow for evolution, I just wish to understand. Please?

Yo
The problem I always had with "witches"was that to me, witches are born, whearas, most that I have met think it is enough to don tie die skirts and a pentacle and dye thier hair purplle to qualify as a witch.
Being a witch is something that you feel as fire in your belly. Not simply a statement of leaning to be advertised by your public dress code.
So come on witches. Tell me different.
Unless you are a born witch. In which case Blessed be.

A very familiar subject.
Born or bred?
It's a bit of a cliche to explain my grandmother had the gift. But, that's not how I came to be on this path.
To be honest. I have no idea......,
I read some books and it wasn't so much that it all clicked like a revelation when people read the Bible or Koran and think, this is it, this is me.
For me, it was as if i've read it all, or had this knowledge before, and that was the crucial thing. That's what's kept me delving deeper and deeper.
Witchcraft is to seek Wisdom, of our nature. To find what we are not is sometimes difficult becasue we learn many things are false, things we held as tantamount.
Philosophy is the love of wisdom. It is a practice that determines wether a "witch" is a dabbler or an adept. It concerns reasoning of an absolute nature. Answers which cannot be doubted. As children we lose the right to say "What if" and "How Does" because people had impatience and chose not to answer us, as children we learnt that to ask questions to the point of splitting hairs annoyed people... so we gave up, much to the detriment of spiritual growth.
I certainly don't wear black and don pentagrams In fact you probably wouldn't consider me as what I am at all on meeting.
I do like the goth look though.
I steer clear these days of covens in the main. Bitchcraft is very prominent. I have always hated the hierarchy and leaders. Everyone is the leader or no-one is the leader. This has lead me to some conflicts with egos on the path.
I do believe in a previous life I was always on this sort of awareness. I have had some flashes of past life experience but I cannot latch on to them.
So. Definatley born.
In truth we are all of the path.
Blessed Be

No pentacle No black robe.
And just as I was getting to like the guy.
Oh well i'm off to bed now. I'm up early catching newts.
Blessed be.

Indeed I have a pentacle. But no robe, as such.
I approached my sister in law once, she's a fashion designer with the idea of creating "active garments" robes and tshirts adorned with sigils and steeped in the incences thereof.
She liked the designs but feared getting caught in a niche ????
Thus I will continue this and create my own digging out my ol screenprinting mesh.
I nearly bought a robe on ebay from a member of The Dawn. But it closed at £3000.
"eye of a newt"? isn't that an analogy for the berry of nightshade?

Three Grand.........
I would have wanted violet inside it for that sort of money.
Nice cover about the sister inlaw Sam. Now be honest you make all of your own cloths don't you

So why did you get chucked out?
And I bet they wish they didnt now, probably bored ass kissing each other by now I prosume
Someone was sending poison pen letters to our coven leader. She asked me to psychomatrise the letters. I did that and made a phone call to whom I suspected the culprit was. The letters stopped.
So far so good. Then our leader demands to know who it was that sent the letters. I refused to disclose the information. That may sound silly but I would never disclose any information of any discription that I had gleaned in that way. She sulked I left.
Silly but there you are.

....and just to add to that again, my dismay at living in Scotland there def seems to be more % of Witch poser or real down there than there is up here ??????

I dont know tut :D

Oh yes there can be such a hierachy re covens. I know a third degree witch who says she went to meet a coven who were terribly nasty and unwelcoming to her.
Of course this is not just unique to the wiccan path, I have heard spiritualists say when visiting other spiritualist groups how unwelcome they are made to feel. I am sure if a stranger walks into a church 'the click' will view people as outsiders and make things awkward.
We only need to draw on our own experiences of working in say an office environment. Some people are friendly to you, others can be quite hostile and when an argument takes places the work environment can be the last place you want to be. Same in the coven.
I do believe working as a solitary has its bonuses however every month I attend the local Pagan Moot to meet up with other like minded individuals and share ideas. I wear a pentacle and wear black (sorry to disappoint).
Blessed be.

I new it. Another wand waving pentacle wearing black clad pagan. You just can't move for them round here.

my experience with 'white witches' is people who all of a sudden pronounce..i am a white witch out of the blue. They have no idea what it means and they have probably bought a few different coloured candles and peeled an apple in one to find out their future lovers initials. I know that doesnt work cos trying to make the peel fall into the shape of a K is almost impossible :( If your going to get into that sort of thing you might as well go the whole way and buy a statue of the cloven satan and get into deep dark magic. Ive always had the idea that 'witches' are a bit gay to be honest and scared of the darker side of things. Anyhoo...I think its all a waste of time. Ive never met a rich witch and it begs the question..why dont they magic up a really good job for themselves or make the lottery numbers come up etc....I just feel the dark side has always had more power but saying that I think its all a load of rubbish...both sides of it. I believe in the power of the mind but not riualised magic stuff. Ive never seen any evidence of it working.

Having met a few on my travels I reluctantly have to agree with most of what KJ says. I would say that in my Life I have met two women and one man who would fit my definition of a witch. ie they can heal council scold(and boy you better watch out) and make things happen that just shouldn't. On the other hand I have met dozens and dozens of "white witches" who frankly could not cause a draft. Well perhaps they can by swirling their tie die skirts and waving the vegetarian weekly from side to side. But then I suppose that if is down to the way that you define a witch.

Sadly she would not reason. It would have deteriorated into a slanging match. I did not want any part of their ego wars.
Again I say this. I do not tell anyone what I pick up in readings. Not even Magi. It is personal and private between me and the person involved. On the forum it matters not but with people down the village it matters a lot.
Err PM me about the ways of making me talk. Oh and with a few pictures.
