The unconscious part of the brain

So we all know what happens in the conscious side of the brain, but what about the unconscious side?
As brought up in Tony Robinson's recent series and mentioned on the Assap blog. Is the unconscious side responsable for things of a paranormal nature. Automatic writing, past lives etc. Are mediums better at using this side of their brains?
What else is going on in this part of the brain that we cannot access?

Kas, who can tell? the unused part of the brain is an average of 95% (depending on IQ and the such like) so mate, it's impossible to say, the human body is so untapped it's silly to think we've been evolving for millions of years, and we're still pretty basic Big Grin

I have read that this idea that we do not use all of our brain is a myth.  I think I read it on Bad Psychics.

Just because we cannot identify the role of certain areas of the brain does not mean that those areas do not have a function.

Of course I don't know and I suspect neither do the scientists, if any of the above is true or not.

Ah well, it must be true.

hmmm interesting topic.
My belief is that as children we use more of our brain than we do as adults. Qualities we lose as children as the black and white ,right and wrong society we live in moulds us in to who it thinks we should be.
Maybe more of our brain..possibly other senses even would open up to us if we could only stop the brainwashing in our infancy?

As we grow up my belief is that we literally do become"Narrow Minded" Through no fault of our own.

Wouldnt it be wonderful to take a child and allow it to develope naturally without enforcing others beliefs, rules, laws and teachings upon it. Impossible I know.

What would you say to the "why?" questions?

And for that matter, is language one of the first limiting things we learn?

I agree with mel, as children we are so open to everything, all are senses are tuned in massively. Our parents explain there is no such things as ghosts, fairys etc. So we shut down that side of our real knowledge that there actually is. A friend of mine is a child physcologist, an she says when a child has an imaginary friend it isn't imaginary. Well shes absolutely right in most cases. A baby from birth to about 4 yrs old is open to other frequency bands in the world spectrum because it hasn't long come from the spirit world itself.

This is just my opinion

But I think the news, and the goverment brainwash us to think how they want us too. Drugs are from the earth, look at magic mushrooms for instant, they enable our minds to open areas we closed down as children. The police don't like to have us thinking for ourselves because this is dangerous. We already live in a messy world, but aslong as we keep it real with ourselves an know our sole purpose is to learn. Well all be fine, mark my words.

People get too caught up in whats going on in other places an loose the focus on whats actually going on around themselves. We don't grow or develop into our old childish roots because we as adults believe we are older, more mature an wiser. In my opinion we are but we are not evolving into something greater but infact going in reverse. Why is it we have the most amazing high technology to date, however it doesn't compare to the ancient times when our main impulse was to act on instinct to survive. Just look at annimals they rarely analyse there thoughts they just act. Perhaps this is why we get on so much better with annimals than we do as humans. Annimals don't keep analysing there own thoughts (sure you agree mark to a certain degree)

The reason for alot of illness is self induced, your thoughts create feeling, so its important to pick yourself up when you lower your vibration from a minor set back. Miracles do exist, but its down to the individual to see there own problems before they can move things forward.

Easy to say when you're young. When you get older you will realise that 'minor setbacks' become bigger, and it's harder to bounce back from them.

agreed well I'm 27 so can't get much older lol!

I had a major set back when I lost my best friend, right in the prime of his life at 17. He's close by an that is comfort to us all.

Is the bouncing back a state of mind though, rather than a negation of the event?

it's just finding yourself again, we all get lost an looze our way from time to time. thats why good friends around us guide us back on the right path. we intially find our way back ourselves, even when you astra project yourself you still know your way back to where you live. home is where the heart is :)

Don't lets underestimate the value of the journey. Its not about "lessons" but about discovery, and the discoveries we make at times of crisis can be so profound.....as in fact they can be during each moment of each day, we just tend not to notice those as much.

It is letting go.

I let go the shadow and embrace the self.

So easy to say and so hard to do.

I find the best way to get rid of things is to go into them.

Take anger for instance.  If you become angry make yourself even angrier.  And then even more.  Think of all of the things that make you angry and then feel where the anger comes from.  If you get it right you will get a surprise

darn right there David.. how many come across my work chair busy telling me they have released... I don't think you can release without some real reflection.. it is not about the actual release it is about the understanding .. it is those ah moments that make all the difference

For about 8 years I have been working with others on taking them back into the situation to see what it actually meant to them then so they can really understand where they are now..  it is exhausting and one of the most worthwhile experiences i have come across
