The crying boyI remember these were quite fashionable in Essex in the 70's wasn't they David? Remember my mother saying something about a curse and throwing our's out to the dustmen.
I'm sure the curse started before 1985 though. It was mid to late 70's.
| Quote: | | ‘The Curse of the Crying Boy’ appeared out of the blue one morning in 1985. The Sun, at that time the most popular tabloid newspaper in the English-speaking world, published on page 13 of its 4 September edition a story headlined: “Blazing Curse of the Crying Boy”. |

I remember this because my neighbour had one. Apparently there were fires in houses were people had these paintings and the rooms would be completely gutted but this painting would remain undamaged.
My neighbour threw hers out as well.

Oh yes I remember it well.
I bet you don't remember the first of the really popular pictures. It was known as The Green Lady.
It's quite amazing how people will latch onto an idea when it is to do with the paranormal ie curses.
Just about every house had the Crying Boy picture so it is hardly surprising that some that burned down had ot too.
