I have experienced the astral body through numerous out of body experiences, all of them unplanned and spontaneous. Which is frustrating. Although this gave me proof that our self is separate from body I cannot answer that question of wether this continues after death 100%.
In the astral body the world is seen on a very different level. It is not as if every thing is alive per se but everything emanates a force/energy like a tangible emotion, and it always has. The world looks like infra red photography, but my OOBE’s have always been at night, everything is vivid. By focusing on an area in the astral body the body and the area become harmonious, it is possible, quite easily to alter the atmosphere of an area in the astral. Likewise I would suggest a living being. Fears and passions fuel the atmosphere. I can understand how subjects such as elementals could be bought into being by thought forms created on the astral. Also poltergeists et al.
What is the matter that is fluid on the astral that is a part of everything? It appears magnetic and yet also very suseptible to thought. I was interested to read of developments in qantam physics which suggest matter corresponds to the way we think it should. If a scientist wants a particular effect to happen it will happen simply because he wants it to?
There seems to be some hidden ethical and moral boundary on the astral, this I believe is created by the archetypal will, the common good of man, we all create it, a community soul. It would take a great deal of work to invade some space and affect it because of this. But, this is what magicians do.
If that makes sense and it sdifficult to describe in one hit, then if you consider what magicians do and want and how by using this astral body can allow them to enter the realm, you can see the benefits?
The astral body is the same as water in my glass and water in the ocean except one is in my glass and the other isn't.
