This is the Barge Inn. People come here from all over the world as it has been connected to the crop circle phenomena for many years. The place has tremendous character matched only by the characters of some of the people who use it as their watering hole. The campsite that we use is at the rear of the pub so it's not too far to stagger back to your tent for a late night glass of wine and cheeses and biscuits.
If you are at all interested in Crop art this is a must visit location. It is situated next to the Avon Kennet canal and you look across the canal to Milk Hill,Adams Grave and the white horse. Any new circles that may appear will be posted on the pubs notice board immediately often accompanied in a short space of time by a photo
The site itself is a bit primitive but if you balance that against the wonderful countryside that surrounds the place and the buzz during crop circle season it really doesn't matter.
This Saturday was a live music night and the young guitar player for the evening was brilliant. He started with Hendrix music and then moved on to the faster stuff. I want to go back NOW.

The barge is a great pub to meet loads of fascinating people that come to the area from all over the world. You don't have far too crawl after a good drinking session. The young musician was brillaint, i played some of it to my boys who are in to this type of music and they loved it too.
I must thank dave for bringing me down to this wonderful and magical part of the UK, it turned out to be a bit of a spiritual journey for me, i feel energised and ready to get on with life, something i needed. I can't wait until the next time i get a chance to go back. We also learnt of an old inn that is supposed to be haunted, one that not many people know about, i will be making enquiries soon..
