Don't want to spoil anyone elses view of this, so I will put my crappy attempt in a spoiler.
BTW If you wish to use a spoiler yourself, just type [ spoiler ] <your message here> [ /spoiler ] (take off the spaces in the spoiler tags.
Spoiler:
I got a feeling of 'chest tightening' to the extent that my chest actually did tighten when I looked at the image

Anyone killed when it landed?
I am interested in this one, as it actually did provoke a reaction in me. Would be very interested to hear of anyone killed by a shockwave in particular...or maybe being crushed by something landing on their chest.
Sia
Yes if anyone was killed then it would be murder and I would be right :D

not claiming any talents but when i looked at the photo i saw that the ends of the buildings had been repaired so i did think of a bomb...because i knew that in this area thousands of bombs were dropped in ww2......which i guess just goes to show how much we rely on sight..............
a couple of years ago i was on the beach at chalkwell and a uxb was found.it was only a 25 pounder but it made a hell of a noise when detonated.......to have been in an air raid must have been a very harrowing experience.

Indeed. Towards the end of the war when the allies had near total air superiority, there were some truly horrendous raids inflicted on German cities.
The thoughts at the time were that we couldn't really get to the factories any more, as they were well hidden by this time, so the target became the factory workers in their beds. Total war is a truly horrendous thing.
In cities such as Dresden, where one of the worst raids occured, the firestorms created by the bombings swept through the city ripping oxygen away from whole areas at gale force. People in cellars literally had oxygen ripped from them and died on the spot.
But, to put all that bombing into a perspective...More Russians died at the siege of Leningrad (just Leningrad, not including Stalingrad, Kursk or anywhere else) that all the British (cilvilian and military, everybody) lost in the entirety of the war. Oh, and more than the Americans lost (cilvilian and military, everybody) in the entirety of the war.....actually they lost more souls at the siege of Leningrad than the British and American lossed combined.
Having said that, whatever the statistics are, war is only real for the people experiencing it. Whether that is two soldiers going into a room, and only one can come out. Or if it is a mother holding a frightened child as they wait for their turn to be shot and put into a ditch. It is hell for all.
