Stillness

I start and end the day in the stillness within.
Raymond

Lucky you. I normally start and end the day screaming like a banshee.
david hobbs

Well don't make the morning cuppa so hot then.
Raymond

It normally begins with waking up and realising there's somebody else in my bed and saying "Who the f*ck are you?"

I do hope the people you sleep with take precautions Raymond.  Earplugs is a good place to start.
Raymond

Having 999 on redial is another.
david hobbs

Well let's face it if you were as hot as you say you are they would never wake up would they.
Raymond

Many don't, and then I'm left having to get rid of the body, all this going on as well as trying to do my hair.

And you wonder why I start the day screaming.
david hobbs

Any way Raymond the next time you wake up next to someone just pull out the plug and let them go down slowly.

Much easier that burial.  Just pop them back in the box until the next time.

do you think sleep is really a stillness?

We dream when we are asleep.

The only true stillness is stillness of the mind.

The only true peace is peace of mind.
meiah

Do searchers ever really achieve this?

Silly question. Of course we do. Its that moment of stepping back and just seeing. It may be just a moment, what what a glorious moment.
david hobbs

For mere mortals like me it is just fleeting glances.

A bit like looking into a secret place quite by accident.

It changes nothing but the knowledge that there is such a place.

I certainly don't know anyone who can bring about the stillness and keep it permanently.

I have met Guru's and people who would not know what a Guru was and the best understanding was given to me by the later.

I put it in the previous post.

"The only thing worth having is peace of mind".

That I guess must come from stillness.

Perhaps the stillness within

to be in stillness all the time...   I don't think I want that ...  though moments are great

You are missing the point.

It is not about being in the stillnes like a monk, it is about feeling the stillnes within and knowing that this is your natural state of being regardless of what is going on in your life.

It is not about being a monk or a Nun but living life to the full and with awareness.

I can't do it for long.

But I do try
evergreen

I understand what you mean David.. and yet I think that often those moments of anxious excitement pain whatever they be drive you on
david hobbs

I suppose to experience things to the full we need both stillness and movement.

The idea is to be in control of those things and not at thier mercy.
evergreen

why the need to always be in control .. do you think that with that control we can miss the next stop... because we are so busy thinking we are in control?

Yes you are right.

Perhaps being in touch would be a better way of putting it.
evergreen

being in touch is a great way of putting it

Been pondering this....stillness for me seems to stem from a lack of need, a perfect contentment.....

Awareness, or being in touch is for me, an all expansive knowing, with no questions, in touch with limitless possibility.
(that in itself I find very lonely, as without interaction, it is just pointless, impotent)

The two are very different, however, awareness, for me, is accessed through stillness, or put another way, from stepping aside from myself, and being...perfectly....

Awareness, accessed through stillness, but through a filter of purpose which comes from a need, or desire, or wish....becomes manifestation, change, insight etc

Hard to explain, but there nonetheless.
Its what I do. When I remember that its what I do.

Hello Meiah

Lack  of need is of course lack of desire.  This is the ultimate attainment.

That is of course lack of desire whilst living this very short life to the full.

The idea of the quickening is to bring that inner stillness and awareness into your everyday life.

It ain't easy and I manage it rarely ,but I shall keep trying.

It's of no use being a hermit and living in stillness when the whole world has been given to us as a huge playground.

Then again it is not much use playing all of the time without awareness.
