Had a question today from my youngest......how does gravity work?

Any ideas anyone? Looking at a few sites, I got terribly muddled, so an explanation I can understand would be much appreciated!!!!

A space / astrology section could be very useful for questions of this sort? Please?

Gravity is caused by a curvature in space-time.

Actually its not that hard to understand
Imagine space and time is a stretched out thin rubber sheet..
Now its stretched out really tight but then someone puts a snooker ball in the middle and the weight bends the sheet and causes a large pimple in the sheet. then someone puts a ball on the end of the sheet ..it will automatically be attratced to the snooker ball because it will be pulled in towards the dimple. Thats exactly how gravity works. and why the moon circles the earth etc...Mass ( the amount of atoms) in an object causes bigger dimples in the rubber sheet ( space-time)..The more masive the object the heavier it is and the bigger the dimple..hence bigger the gravitational pull..Thats why Jupiter has 70 something moons and we only have 1. Jupiter has a bigger dimple in the rubber sheet cos its heavier. The sun has such a big dimple in the sheet (space -time) due to its mass that it has a whole solar sytem around it. A black hole has the most mass and in a small space so it actually breaks through the sheet and so has the power to suck in whole galaxies.
There is a slight problem with the sheet theory because thats a 3d model of a 4 dimensional universe so you have to add another dimension yourself...
The graviton is also a component but we will do that in lesson 2.

Ah.....I understand :D ........... but it is a very linear. How would this fit with the concept of spherical time?
