offer of poetrySoul Searching
by: Madeline McGookin
She breathes.
Prevailing winds grasp him.
Held in knowing hands, he travels.
Time has no meaning, for in this journey
destination is everything.
Placed in the crack he settles down.
She rains and shines and breathes on him
He reaches up to her, determined to touch
the soul in him.
The concrete by his side confines him.
He entwines himself through until it becomes part of him.
With determined strength he lifts and buckles it.
Slowly, slowly pushing
forever striving to reach his goal
His soul is saved. He stands aloof,
proud. Not over shadowed by the concrete,
but tall inspite of it.
