If I like the lie I am hearing, if it fits with how I see things, then why not??? The trick is to know it is a lie.....or more to the point, that it may not be my truth, or the whle truth, or anything resembling truth....and I do not pretend to know your truth, so anything i say to you may well be a lie from where you are standing.

Truths and Lies are only that way form the point of view of each individual.
Mr. Hobbs and his cronies would have us believe there are conspiracies going on all around us, I would have you believe in Faeries and the power of Magick.
The Marboro Bapist Church would have you beleive that 'GOD HATES FAGS'.
The left wingers would have you believe that the Palestinians are a downtrodden people who are fighting for their freedom from the oppressive Israelis while the right wingers would have you believe the Israelis are in fear of their very existance due to the hostile intentions of all thier Islamic neighbours.
Green people would have you believe were destroying the world with our carbon emissions while non-Greenies would say global warming is natural occurance.
Which are lies and which are truths.
The intelligent person will look at the arguments made by both sides and make up their own mind. The dumb person will simply follow the best argument.

Well said Raymond. I think we are all born with an instinct, a sense of truth,or right from wrong, then the minute we go to school the truth is slowly whittled away from us,unless we don't follow the sheep and stick to our own heartfelt ideas .
What we believe in ourselves is our own personal truth, if we can stick to that and not be swayed by what someone else considers as truth, then I think we are halfway there.
Civilisation is what has taken away the truth, or as I prefer to call it,our natural learning process. Before 'civilisation'- when we were born,we knew what to do to survive and how to differentiate right from wrong. That natural instinct has been lost .Animals still have it,they don't have to be shown how to bring up their young, they are programmed from birth as we were once.
In the deep recesses of our minds,I believe we all know what truth is. We are all on separate pathways of life,so what is true for one,may not necessarily be true for the next person. In other words, truth comes from within, our own individual minds. The trick is to stick with it,and not be told by anyone else what you know yourself is your own truth.

Yes....and no, I think.
Yes.....no-one can know my truth except me. To know my truth I must know me, which is perhaps where often we fall down, as that also means taking responsibility for yourself, which not everyone does, and those who do may have times when they don't.
And no.......My truth has changed over time. For me to stick with what used to be my truth would have meant that i did not change, grow, become more than I was....it would have become my dogma and lead to my stagnation....possibly.
I am not so sure we are born with a truth, or an instinct. I think that perhaps we do inherit traits, which in themselves may form our truth, but that intself may not be right or wrong.
Will ponder that

You got it by gingo.
There is another aspec, infact many other aspects.
For instance are you being true to yourself?
All that means of course is, are you doing what you know is right or are you not. If not then you are living a lie perhaps.
How easy is it in life to do what you truly believe is the right thing at the right time.

Its incredibly easy to do what is right for you at that time. You just need to be conscious of why you have decided that it is right for you...now.
It means living your life consciously. Taking responsibility for your life. Or as my Dad used to have it "think before you act" or else "every time you open your mouth, some fool speaks".

Your dad was a wise man.
He knew how to laugh at himself.
Not self deprecation but understanding.
