Lets change the format of mediumship.

The sole job of a medium within the Spiritualist church is to give proof of survival. Why?

I think it is time that they stopped being called churches and started being called centres. I think it is time to give more than just proof of survival and give free reign to all input that they can or receive. It's like putting a speed restrictor on a racing car.

I know mediums who have left the movement because they could not give off all that they had to give. On one occasion one of the finest mediums I have ever met was asked to leave the platform because he was not giving proof. What he was giving was some dammed good medium ship as far as i was concerned but.

Thats a shame about your medium friend David. Whats his name if you don't mind me asking? I'd love to be a medium :)
david hobbs

His name was Arthur Rowe and he came from the Basildon district.

Why do you want to be a medium?
Kas

I remember Arthur Rowe

david hobbs

Your too young to remember Arthur Rowe.

If not can you give me the name of your surgeon

Coz I'm sick of being a large

Nah, I have always wanted to be able to talk to spirit, i.e. see them to talk to, hear them speak...so that I can then help others :) ever since i was a kid!
evergreen

My one experience with a spiritual church was enough for me not to return I was told to stop doing what I was doing and to make sure I remained on the stage.. blah blah I jumped down and approached the crowd much to the horror of the "leader" just not my thing but then that church has no medium...lol I wonder why??

that experience made me go out on my own and many think without that grounding I shouldn't not do it as I don't have enough knowledge but then everyone is so busy reminding each other that it is spirit not you that is giving the information~ what in the world are they all worried about?? do they think that one can only attain that knowledge in a spiritual church setting?? I have seen and heard spirits all my life long before I heard the word spiritaulist.. and long before I decided a church was not the thing for me.

So big round of claps for you David!!!!

Sounds fairly typical. Spiritual people with a need for power and control. You have to smile really.

There are people who want to contact those dear and departed and that is understandable. But what about those who need some guidance on a day to day basis without the dogma that goes with it in a spiritualist church.

I used to ask people "how do you know a spiritualist medium in a crowd.

Answer. It's the person who is bad mouthing all of the other mediums in that crowd. Behind their backs, of course.
evergreen

lol I have seen that myself ... in truth I can't be bad mouthed David... not unless I want to be. I stand out for the work I do I realsie that this woman was rather threatened by me... and I dont' need that kind of rubbish in my life, I do well enough on my own.

I see so many people that give there power away to others I feel many in various churchs do this.. I think it is all for learning and one day they will be able to see and acknowledge what they are doing

If you were to start a centre for people to come and see mediums working and not Spiritualist in belief or format. What name would you give it if you had to?
evergreen

Well I have called my own business Evergreen Connections that name suites me.. it is hard to say as nothing suites everyone and being a medium and being spiritual arent' related as far as I am concerned..

Yes but it sounds a bit like a club for pensioners

How's about calling it, er,

The Evergreen International People's Spiritual Centre for Liberated Minds Spirits and Thoughts Inc Tasmanian Branch.

Kinda catchy don't you think.
evergreen

lol that is a mouth full that name

I wouldnt' really like the term spiritual in it as it has so many meanings to others

OK then, how about the word awareness.

This evening in the village hall we will be holding an evening of awareness. Your medium for the evening will be Evergreen and she will be making you aware of those things that you didn't even know you needed to be aware of.

Phew.

Don't know if that will work.

More ideas please

oh god well that was funny at least... i did a few psychic gatherings for a while and I was introduced as "The Psychic' so of course I would add and he is the "side kick' got a laugh out of the people anyway

The thing is that I feel that in psychism people can find a whole new dimension within themselves that hitherto they were unaware of. I think that maybe the spiritual aspect keeps people away.

Or perhaps you find it when the time is right.
evergreen

yes I would have to agree David... things occured in my life that brought me to a stage where I was looking within far more than ever before I have always been a deep thinker but this was different it was a real sorting out of the self.. and that brought me towards spiritualiam.. and now I move on to other things I feel as though it has opened the world up to me .. or me up to the world :)

Yes, To me spiritualism is a stepping stone. It is valid of course in it's own right and has surely been responsible for the newly found spirituality of hundreds of thousands of people so more power to it's elbow I say.

But there are other things too and for some restless people like me the journey will never end.
evergreen

thank heavens for that David.. or you would just be exisitng and that to me is just not the point of life :D well certainly not the point for my life. and you wouldn't be the David that I see on here.
