Irish circleI was over in Ireland a while back and I thought I would tell you about a sign that I read telling about an ancient stone circle a few yards off. We walked to the circle from the town and I have to apologise as I forget the name of said town. Anyway the circle was wonderful also with a dolmen and a river clearly visible in the valley below.
The sign outside the circle read.......
THIS STONE CIRCLE IS PROBABLY RELATED TO THE ONE IN ENGLAND CALLED STONE HENGE.
IT IS VERY UNUSUAL TO FIND A CIRCLE BEING BUILT THIS CLOSE TO THE CENTRE OF A TOWN. PLEASE ENJOY YOUR VISIT.
I swear this is true, and just think, I am back there next weekend.
Just cannot wait.

was the the circle built in the town, or the town grew round the circle, I wonder?
Did you find the connection between that one and Stonehenge?

Thing is that stone circles can go back say 3,500 years. Towns are far more recent.
I do realise that there are older civilisations but I dont think that most towns were around in prehistoric times.

The Irish have a reputation for being a bit slow.
That is counter to my experience of them.
In fact I would say that that are pretty quick.

Sounds like the Irish to build a Stone Circle in the middle of a town, no offence to the Irish GHE Viewers, just sit there, swig the guiness and laugh at my fancy wig!
