Thing is I don't need to be told that I am stupid.
I know it

Trouble is, if you laugh at yourself it's best done in public, or otherwise even you think you're going round the twist.

Hobbs, there is a difference between being stupid and being humourous. The ability to be able to laugh at oneself is a rare gift. So many simply can't.
Hunter, I see your point but sometimes when I'm alone I think about something stupid I said or did that day and have a good chortle to myself. Being able to laugh at yourself really is a very important thing to do. It's stops you taking yourself too seriously and stops you becomming hateful of other people you laugh at.

But how about laughing at that which you hold to be carved in stone?

Like what? There's very little I carve in stone and very little I don't laugh at.
There are very few sacred cows with me Hobbs.
