How much censorship should there be on the InternetYes there is a load of porn but did you know that contrary to what is believed only 1% of INTERNET traffic is porn. Getting that out of the way I think that we are far better informed and able to get to the truth of worlds affairs than we have ever been before. I believe that government would love to control everything on the Net and stop us having as much access as we do to current information.
What do you think?

What would happen on here for instance if the PC brigade take control over the internet.

Well looking at the way the leading politicians in the west all proclaim to be happy clapping God fans then that could happen soon.
How come Blair and Bush, two of the biggest pieces of s**t to walk the planet, believe that they are Godly folks.
So yes with self righteous people like that in power Billy could well be prosecuted for Heresy.
I suppose the internet is already controled, it certainly is in China. That says it all really.

I converse with a young man in Tibet .. he is a journalist he last email he sent me for the first time he mentioned his woes about the government and censorship he said they have power for an hour a day so he can't really write to me very often he sounded so down between the lines .. that was 6 weeks ago and I haven't' heard form him since
there is censorship already .. Australia has censorship laws things that are blocked and whole departments charged with keeping up all safe I'm sure its the same the world over

Why not?
We already live in an unfair society where there's one set of rules for one group of people and another set of rules for another set of people, so why not include the internet too?

My mother is convinced that as soon as you connect to the internet you are bombarded with porn. The day she saw me with a webcam...oh my...I simply could not get it through to her that they are used for anything other than gross indecency.
Although she now accepts there is a legitimate use for webcams (she has seen me chatting to friends via Skype videocalls etc) she still finds it difficult to believe the internet is not loaded with nastyness just waiting to pop onto your screen uninvited.
A little while back I got her to sit at the computer with me and I tried to prove that it is pretty damn difficult to accidentally come across anything unsuitable. I typed in "tits" and showed her a plethora of birdie sites!
My point is that unfortunately alot of people do still believe that the internet is a hothouse of pornography etc, even though there is nothing to suggest it apart from media coverage of paedophiles etc. The parents who find their teenager "accidentally" looking at porn, well maybe they should open their eyes.
I believe the people who want to control and restrict the internet are divided into two groups. Do-gooders and politicians. Do-gooders paving their path to heaven by saving our poor souls, and politicians looking to gain power anywhere possible. Neither have our best interests at heart.

You stay up there on your soapbox Sia because you talk an awful lot of sense.
I do remember typing in Essex Radio one day because I wanted to catch up with a local UFO story that had just broken and up popped a load of porn.
I took ages sifting carefully through the site before I realised that this was perhaps the wrong site to find out about local news but Hey Ho!
Well who cares about UFOs anyway
Your mum sounds a lot like my mum now departed god bless her but perhaps one day Sia someone somewhere will be reading a post by your child saying the same about you

I used to be a breastfeeding counsellor for mums and families and if you type in breast feeding for any form of research you get loads of porn...
and yet I have only come across something terrible 2 or 3 times... but then I don't have time to surf the net .. kids will find the info if they want to keep looking but then they could get it in other places but certainly not so easily accessible imo

I can quite imagine my darling daughter saying something similar. At (nearly) 4 she is astonishingly computer literate. Her generation will have a totally different view to mine, just as my views are different to my parents. Such is the world.
