FATHER IN LAW

Today i got a phone call from my wife to say that her dad had been badly beaten up on his own drive way
by a 17 year old lad who was working in a house over the road, and her mother also assaulted.
Bill is 70 years old with a heart condition as well.

His crime.? the workers had parked across his drop pavement and  he asked them to move their truck as his son was due home and would not be able to get on his drive. Not only that he was hit while he had his back turned to the lad.

Some times its very hard to maintain a spiritual mind when things of this nature do happen,i for one
find it very very hard, even more so when you consider its now 7pm and the attack happened 5 hours ago
and the police have not even attended.

We live in hard times, and love will always be stronger than hate, but boy is it hard.

Is your dad-in-law ok? have the police been now?
Terrible times we live in wolf.
Raymond

Get some mates together and go round there and kick the f*ckers head in.

Do it in a spiritual way and you'll be alright.
white wolf

It took 5 hours before the cops even turned up,my dad in law has a broken nose and face injuries etc but is ok and of course shocked.

Th e police are now saying there was not a car in the area at the time to come out.? Its the  2well there is not a witness" situation at the moment.

I know what you mean Raymond.

Well do it!

It's a sad fact but I'm afraid it's the only justice you're going to get.

Police? Pah!

The police a rather busy raising revenue with their speed traps at the moment and they just can't be expected to be everywhere.

Just one more thing that this land of ours cannot be proud of anymore.
billy nomates

i think an old fashioned response would be suitable.........

i have heard of some thugs that wrapped some bloke in a carpet-then gave him a really good kicking.

they were called the police!
Raymond

I'd like to hear the rest of this story.

Little toe-rag probably deserved it.

He probably just beat up a 70 year old man for being asked to move his car.

I am actually sick of people going on about the police...

the kid that did this terrible act is the one to blame...

police have a job to do that I would not want to do myself its thank less and leave you constantly open to ridicule and abuse from everyone = where is the respect ...???

and with mugs like us that sit and say they are all corrupt why the hell should they stick their heads out further and further only to have them knocked off at the first opportunity..

sure there are rough cops and bad ones like with everything after all they are a reflection of the community that they protect...

the few times I have needed the police they have really stepped up and protected me gone out of their way to ensure myself and my family have been properly cared for.. ...

I think one of the problems is that we have become separated from our police officer's.

We have made a move toward community policing and nowadays you do see the odd copper walking through the village.

Problem is that we have spent so many years being separated from them that it will take along while to repair the damage.

I have seen total corruption personally within the police force and also total dedication.

To me police should be people and not robots looking for promotion.
evergreen

yes i agree with the policy of radar speed cameras and the like -

we still have beat police here and when there is violence we have that stepped up now police walk in 3's in Melbourne due to the level violence

"I will never forget that police are people like you and I that step up to do a job that is commendable and perhaps along the way the systems stuffs them up as much as it does you and I
Raymond

I happen to know a few coppers personally. The overwhelming feeling with all of them is frustration.

They are tied up in so much red tape and political correctness that sometimes it actually prevents them from doing their jobs.

One of my copper friends works in Lewisham (a very 'black' area) he was questioned by his superiors recently because he was running in too many black people.
Lewisham is something like 80% black. So it stands to reason that most of the people arrested would be black.
But no, he was accused of being racist.

It's just so wrong.
evergreen

yes it feel very similar to the way teachers are feeling id say....  and in the end there is a need for the police to be protected
beantighe

Yeah, we can be as understanding as you like, but how does that help this poor old guy who was viciously beaten up for no reason than that he asked someone to move their vehicle, as he needed his driveway?

It's an all-too common complaint over here that you can never get the police to come when you really need them, and yes, that probably is because they're overloaded with too much paperwork and wrong priorities.  They take their orders from the Home Secretary of the government of the day - I'm sure that's where the blame must lie.

Poor old chap - would the Victim Support people be any help?  Hope he and his wife are recovering now.  Sending them many healing and comforting thoughts.
white wolf

Well Bill is back to his old delf again now and it much better.
the police did actually lift this young punk and his father but are both out on bail, pending further investigations.

We shell see what will be..............................

Hello then

COC's syndrome must be catching
Raymond

No I don't think so.

I have always said that those who choose to do wrong should be punished and punished hard.

That's nothing new.

Or burn them alive

Of course had this been saxon times i would or a family member would of been allowed to wait 7 days after the attack and then allowed to remove their heads at least.

I think the 7 days was supposed to hopefully get you to calm down and rethink things a little.

Glad to hear your Dad-in-Law is on the mend.

well at least there was a 7 day wait .....

I so glad he is back to his old self

In Saxon times there was also a thing called 'weregilt'.  If a person was murdered and the murderer caught, he would have to pay a suitable sum of weregilt (literally 'man-money') to the victim's family.  It was a sort of compensation.  Of course, I daresay the family could have demanded the perpetrator's life instead, but the Saxons were a practical people, and if they had lost the man of the family, they would have needed the money to survive.
