Do You Believe In Fairies? Many paranormalists would be likely to agree that if you want to see a ghost you're chances are greatly increased if you happen to be in the United Kingdom.
Britain has more reports of ghost sightings and haunted places than any other country in the world.
But did you also know that Britain has more reports of sightings than anywhere else of Fairies, Elves, Gnomes and other beings generally termed as 'The Fey Folk'?
To this day people of sober mind report seeing 'little people' in the most everyday of situations.
Let's have a look at some of the more prominant (and bizarre) cases.
A lady by the name of Nona Rees claims to have seen a fairy when a child in 1947.
Her and her mother apparently saw the tiny creature, no longer than an inch, hover over a gorse bush and then fly off.
More recently in 2004 a couple in Croydon saw a fairy hover over their house guttering while out in the garden.
This fairy was bigger and described as being at least 12 inches long. She wore a long white dress with long white hair and silvery white wings.
She looked at the couple and promply fluttered away.
A glance through all the reported accounts of these sightings over the last 100 years provides a fascinating picture of the appearance and dress of these little people.
Gnomes and other 'wing-less' beings are usually always described as wearing very 'earthy' colours and almost always wear 'Robin Hood' style hats and are usually bearded.
Gnomes are usually bigger than Fairies and range from between 1 to 3 feet tall.
It would seem a good way to see Gnomes is to go Blackberry picking. There have been 7 reports of Gnome sightings since 1908 by people who were busy 'blackberrying'.
A troop of little men, 3 inches high, were reported walking in single file near the River Ribble in 1963, in the same year another group of people reported sighting tiny men climbing a tree not far from Ribble in Penwortham Woods in Lancashire.
A boy on a family holiday in Horsham, Sussex spotted an 18 inch tall 'scruffy man' walking out of a Blackberry bush in 1948 (Blackberries again!)
A girl from the Isle Of Man watched from her bedroom window early one morning as a ring of small men danced in a circle in her back garden.
In 1973 children's author Mary Treadgold reported seeing an 18 inch tall man walking out of some heather on the Isle of Mull as she passed by on a bus.
A woman walking on Dartmoor in 1952 met one of the taller little people one winter afternoon.
She described him as 3 feet tall, wearing a brown smock, a brown pointed cap and green loose trousers.
His general apperance was of 'a little old man' but seemed to be walking along at a speed of a much younger person.
Another report came in 1987 when a group of seven schoolboys in Studham, Bedfordshire spotted a little man, 2 feet tall wearing a tall pointed hat and a green tunic climb a tree.
Upon climbing the tree themselves the little man was nowhere to be seen.
A few years earlier in 1982 in Jaywick, Essex two schoolgirls claimed to have seen two small men in their school garden digging a hole.
They had long white beards and wore pointed hats.
Upon investigation there was no discovery of a hole.
Well known occult author Lois Bourne tells in her autobiography how herself, her husband and a travelling companion witnessed a 2 foot tall man washing his socks in a river whilst on holiday in the Lake District during the 70's.
So what's this all about?
My own personal opinion is 'Fey Folk' are just as much "unexplained phenomena" as UFO's, Ghosts, Strange Beasts and any other branch that fits under the wide brim of the paranormal umbrella.
However, even in the paranormal community where people seem quite happy to discuss their beliefs and views on many a weird and odd subject there still seems to linger a definate stigma when it comes to admitting a belief in Fey Folk.
I've no idea what they might be and I hope this thread sparks a discussion on the topic however I will stick my neck out and say that whatever they may be I am firm believer in elementals, fey folk, wee people - call them what you will.
I've never knowingly seen one but it just feels right to me to accept their existance.
What are your views?

I can't believe nobody wants to talk about Fairies.

I find that some of the aspect of fairy law relates equally to UFO encounters. Little people, missing time etc
Perhaps they or it changes to fit in with modern concepts.
I have only encountered fairies in meditation. Oh. and a Gnome who kicked me in the leg. but that was part of a longer story.
Sounds crazy and is crazy but so is all of life.

Yes, I agree Mr. Hobbs.
Our ancestors told each other stories involving strange little folk with pointy ears taking them away. They called them Fairies.
Nowadays we tell each other stories involving strange little folk with pointy ears taking us away. We call them Aliens.

The christians are at it again;
Garden gnomes have been banned from cemeteries by a church diocese because leaders say they are "unnatural paranormal creatures".
The gnomes have been called "inappropriate" and "tacky" by the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
The church banned the garden figures from Wrington and Congresbury cemeteries in Somerset, and have said they will remove any that they find as part of new guidelines issued by the Chancellor of the Diocese, Worshipful Timothy Briden.
A spokesman for the Diocese of Bath and Wells said: "There is no such thing as a real gnome so why should we have such unnatural creatures in churchyards? Beside that, having mythical creatures promoted in a godly place may lead to an interest in occult practices."
The spokesman added: "Things such as gnomes are not permitted because they are aesthetically unattractive and they make it harder to maintain the grounds.
"The historic churchyards are part of Somerset and we want to keep them tidy and safe.
"If people want their loved ones to be buried in one of our churchyards then they have to stick to the rules which are clearly displayed at all churchyards."
The decision to ban the gnomes has been met with criticism from the community however.
Hollie Richards, 24, who has lived in Congresbury all her life and has two grandparents, an uncle and an aunt buried in St Andrew's churchyard in the cemetery, said: "People should be free to put what they want around the gravestones as it is down to personal preference.
"It helps the grieving process as you can surround the grave of the person you love with possessions that were important to them".

So Gnomes are mythical creatures.
These guys worship God.
Errrr.........
Then there are the Angels on the tombs......

I think that Angels were yet one more thing 'hijacked' by christianity way back when.
Spiritual beings of light have been helping mankind long before christianity was invented.

Funny you should say that Raymond but I have come across a case of light beings appearing to someone I know quite recently.
I am hoping to work with the person soon so it might be interesting.

Supernatural beings of light (or dark) whose purpose it is the help (or hinder) mankind.
Otherwise known as Angels (or Demons).
Personally I don't see Angels or Demons as a "christian" thing, I don't see them as good or evil.
They are just another part of the spirit realm that we are yet to understand.
I'd like to hear the experiences of your friend Mr. Hobbs if I may.

I did write about it once before on here.
It began in France where we had a bit of an adventure.
I was compelled to take him to an isolated river bank and he met his being of light and love.
Although I was only on the perimeter of his experience I could feel the immense love emanating from him during his experience.
Since then he has met beings of light in all his meditations.
I don't know if you read the Enter the Dragon thread that I put on but that was an account of my second meeting with beings of light.
these experiences are not just feeling but more peak experiences that cannot be repeated at will.
I realise that the light is in fact the true self and that is what we are all working toward.
Hence The Quickening for me and what ever gets you there for you.
