Dead Dolphin Found In Dorset Garden

A Marine engineer woken by a fishy smell was astonished to find a dead dolphin in his front garden.

Mike Elliott, 28, who lives half a mile from the sea, was shocked to find the mammal in his garden.

Mr Elliott and housemate Gary Harvey, 23, who live in Portland, Dorset, discovered the 3ft dolphin on a summer morning 2008.

Mr Harvey, also a marine engineer, said: "I woke up, looked out of my window and saw what appeared to be a dolphin in the garden.”

“I went downstairs to have a closer look and that confirmed it - there was a three foot dolphin in the front garden."

He continued: "I really don't know how it got there. I was pretty amazed. I thought I was dreaming to start with.

"There was no tidal wave and we live about half a mile from the sea quite a bit above sea level at the top of Portland."

The pair called police who made house to house enquiries before ruling no crime had been committed.

No crime committed.

I think that in this country the Dolphin could be prosecuted for trespass.

Yes I do know that Dolphins as a species get a very good press and that swimming with them can be a spiritual experience but the law is the law and that Dolphin was breaking it.

What sort of message does it sent to the nation if we simply close our eyes and let this incident pass?
