Why do some blockheaded "mediums tell people that they need to be cleansed because they have picked up "negative energies". What exactly does that mean.

Don't they realise the harm that they are doing.

If they are any good why don't they clear these so called negative energies and just keep their mouths shut.

Mostly because they don't know what they're going on about.

It is entirely possible to attract negative energy and it can hang around. Any of us can (and do) attract it just as we attract positive energy as well.

In 9 out of 10 cases it causes no real harm and the person is blissfully unaware of the situation.

However, if the person is a particularly unpleasant character and generally leads a "negative" life or if the person is under some kind of sustained psychic attack then these energies can and do build up and needs clearing because if left unchecked these energies can (and do) start to manifest in the physical.

And you're absolutely right, if the medium in incapable or unwilling to clear these energies then they should just keep their mouths shut in the first place.
