Bhudism Chritianity Spiritualism. Take your pick.

There are hundreds of religions in the world and religious experiences to back them all up. The message from the medium, the vision of the virgin Mary. Sia Baba appearing in your sitting room.

They keep people on their knees for the rest of their lives in some cases totally trapped in their belief system.

I have been involved in Christianity and Spiritualism and Majik and Mysticism and instead of finding them distractions I have learned from each.

I am still not a religious person and I will still carry on trying to learn and understand.

The quickening has put me in touch with things that none of the other systems have. It is not a religion but rather something to try to live a life by. I am still failing but I see no pointing blaming the system or the teacher. I am failing. None the less it has moved me more than a few steps along the path so make of it what you will.

If you already know everything it is not for you.

i am not religious either David.. of that form of belief I am very interested in learning but not being locked in.. at this time I am learning amounts from the buddhist faith and from spiritualism although my main train of thought is a collective thought process where my positive thoughts effect my life and those around me.. so I too am watching my thoughts and what I give out. Basically I am my own guide when it comes to what things I am learning I go with what feels right for me.. I am being drawn to asian cultures and faith out of interest and I think this is somehow related to my healing side~ all of it is for learning... only time will tell :)

I believe mainstream religion as it stands is nothing more than a means of manipulation on the general populace by the few who control them.

A rather convenient undisprovable system that convinces people to lay down their lives in the name of people who are unwilling to lay down their own.

Brilliant.

That is not to say that I am a disbeliever of forces of nature not yet known to science...

At least we can see the forces of nature. We cannot see God. Some would say that what we see is God and who am I to argue. It is a non negotiable statement. How convenient for our religious bretheren.

Many things that we see within those forces are surely as worthy of wonder than the tales we are told about God.

I don't mind bending my knee in wonder at a blade of grass. It is a wonderful thing.

I am not in belief of a God but I do believe is an awesome energy some powerful source something incredible to behold and yet something so simple it sits inside all of us adn in everything adn connects us to eachother on every level of being... Listen to me of no belief :D

the first time I did a Shaman drum healing session I ended up travelling going to through the earth and then up up up to this massive sphere of light energy where I preceeded to converse with it and everyone and then finally returning to my physical self... (I was meditating not medicated by the way)

all systems are tools.most are designed to enslave.

you can study anything you like but at the end you have to throw it all away........remember that the buddha tried and tried but it was only when he gave up that he became enlightened.............

or davids teacher tells of a stick in a fire.use the stick but at the end you have to let it burn in the fire..........

so do what YOU want to do.
do not give your power to others........
meiah

And by that do you mean "take responsibility for yourself, your actions and your state of mind, do not give that responsibility to others"?
billy nomates

what i mean is learn from others but do not be forced into being a christian ,muslim or whatever........if someone wants to help you to learn from their experiences that is fine.when they tell you that you MUST do what they say then tell them where to go!

Here is a good viewpoint on relighion that pretty much sums up my own thoughts :D

(Warning: Contains some swear words, extremely funny)

thanks for that link it was entertaining.. I particularly like his take on the fact that religion needs money... and that religions tell you that you are unworthy and not perfect.. I don't like that either

It is very good but also confronting as his big argument is about not being able to see the awe striking god... But the part about prayer was very funny...

The truth is always funny.

particularly when you are enlightened...
