AskingIf I want to know about people I ask a woman.
If I want the truth I ask a drunk man or a child.

A favourite saying of my dad's was: Those that ask don't get, and those that don't ask don't want! So of course I didn't ask. I think that was the plan.

yes and then we all know that those that do ask are the ones who do get ..... that is one area where manners is not really best ... I found I taught my kids to wait their turn .. and the sad thing is sometimes they never get their turn because others have been taught to push themselves to the front to be heard at all cost and they get want they want..
in the end I think perhaps what they want but not perhaps what they need
be careful what you wish for :)

Very true, Evergreen. My parents had some peculiar notions. Did you ever read the book Toxic Parents - it was by an American lady psychologist (I forget her name). I lent my copy to someone a long time ago and never got it back.

Impossible, I'm afraid, David. It was about 11 years ago, and the person I lent it to is long gone who knows where. I often think books rehome themselves like cats sometimes do - they go to where they're most needed. Maybe it was time for it to have a new owner.
