Well i meditated on this thread and it was quite interesting.
Firstly on a material level I suppose that I would modify my behaviour if I was in the presence of an honoured guest.
Then it seemed that perhaps the energy that surrounds us all is perhaps the honoured guest.
Or perhaps I am my own honoured guest.
At the end I seemed to glimpse that by using this thread I was placing responsibility for myself outside of me and therefore it seems to come down to the concept not of duality but rather just one. Me. _________________ Please visit our main site
The thread also high lights in our minds aspects of ourselves that inwardly we would like to change.
It matters not who you are there will always be things that we wish we could change and this thread is a way of making us review those things.
i am not saying that we should all be goody goody especially as that attitude would be the death of this forum.
I am just suggesting that sometimes a concept that makes us take a look at what we are is perhaps not such a bad thing. _________________ Please visit our main site
We all have good points and bad points. The thing about the 'bad points' is knowing which ones you can change and which ones you can't.
The ones you can change you can work on (if you want to) and improve on them, the ones you can't change you have to find a way of being comfortable with, sometimes you can even make them work in your favour.
One of my 'bad points' is I'm a very argumentative person if pushed enough. Most of the time that gets me in a whole heap of crap but there are times when it works for me.
In times when I have to stand up for myself I'm really pleased I can hold a decent argument and get my point across.
Stubborness is also another flaw I have, but again it has worked in my favour when needed.
we are the perfect us... Hoe could be anything less than perfect
to be in the presence of an honoured guest and to alter your behaviour accordingly would mean we are not being true to ourselves..... how can we not see the wonder that we are and not put ourselves up as honoured guest at all times? _________________ as a babe drinks from its mothers breast so too does man milk mother earth
Bravo were your children born less than perfect.. of course not...
we have been conditioned to believe we are less than what we are.. we have been told that to think we are perfect is actually a flaw poo to that I say
I say who are we to not embrace the wonder that we are....
what do we aspire to ??? aspire to be the best you that you can be- how perfect is that :) _________________ as a babe drinks from its mothers breast so too does man milk mother earth
It strikes me that this thread is about respect. The key word being honored.
In all these threads, we seek to modify our selves, or else what would be the point? In seeing differently, we are different.
In identifying what we would change if in the presence of another, who we honour, we see our selves more clearly.
No trait, flaw (or whatever we want to call it) is something that we are stuck with. We can choose to retain it, or not. We can be something other than what we are now, at will. We do it constantly, anyway.
It does not mean we are not true to who we are, it means we choose who we are.
