The fear, the pain, the hurt, the shock!
The memory’s buried deep
And no amount of digging up
Will help the fears release.

The agony is coded deep
Inside every living cell
And all that we can do is weep
Ensnared in this living hell

With certain sounds, taste and smells
Each sense brings memory back
Like echo’s from a deep dark well
That stab and choke and hack.

The living mind is festering
Like rancid rotting flesh
Our self worth is nose-diving
Till we have nothing left.

The poison that is locked inside
Starts to manifest and swell
Until there’s nowhere else to hide
Illness seeps from every cell.

The damage is done, we can’t go back
To how we were before
And we won’t heal because we lack
Self love, of this I’m sure.
