Ghost-hunting events are on the increase, and not just at Halloween. Rachel Dixon asks why we became so interested in the paranormal - and whether we're wasting our money

Maybe I should have put this in the debate section?

thankyou for the link ,interesting indeed ,ive not been on  a investigation with fright nights ,but  they do financially seem to be doing well
ghost hunts are  dificult to run where there is no trickery etc  and thay can be boaring  at times ,one needs to be dedicated ,how groups who charge  make things work  must be difficult it takes a lot of planning  and different techniques to keep people  happy with a event
thanks for sharing  this

Well the simple answer is that this country has always been a nation of ghosthunters.

Then someone realised that you could earn from it and bingo.

I can't. I would get in to trouble.

It's bloody hard work running a public event though.
I was helping out on an event on Saturday.
At one point a had a group of 34 on my own for an hour vigil.

It's really hard when your on the spot like that.
There's that moment when everyone in the room is looking at you.

"Show me a ghost" moment.

The IOW ghost hunts are great as you get the history of the  island thrown in ,most of it quite accurate too!

Couldn't resist posting this; My Grandson and friend at my house trick or treating Halloween night. My Grandson is the handsome one on the right.

[notice the family likeness?]

Unfortunately your not part of the market there aimed at though David.
There are many facets to the paranormal world as you know.
Some aren't everyones cup of tea.

I enjoy them not for the same reasons that the people attending do.
I like to observe the way people act at react in a paranormal situation.

Getting back to Saturdays vigil. I wasn't comfortable in that situation.
However it went a lot better than expected.
Although a couple of women got quite distressed at one point and a had to take them out. The feedback I got afterwards was fantastic.
Some said it was their best ever paranormal experience.
Best of all 3 sceptics told me that they now believed.

It's a great feeling when you get feedback like that.
