Memories

Change of thoughts
drifting from then to now

Regretting how it was
How I took your words
let them bite me
leaving foul taste
How I felt each word

how with every phrase
there was a lasting sting
Bringing tears to my eyes
and sadness to my soul

With heavy heart I fled
Leaving behind your world
Where judgment rang loud
pounding on my ears
like a thousand kettle drums

I ran for so long
Never daring to stop
Unable to look back
I buried you
Away from my world
in coldness I kept you
Where I could forget
ignore, totally deny

i now sit steady for a while
immersed inside this bed
Pulling back the covers
I'm curious to see what is left
I wonder if you are there?
still the same?
If your heart has softened
With time? regret?

I sit staring at this shell
cracked open revealing vessels within
pictures of you
hazy and smeared
video unreeled glimpsing a life when
hatred rang supreme
I ponder on times
I long fought to forget

Revelation!
time is irrelevant
it is not too late
to add new memories
